A gold-medallist from IIT- Kanpur (M.Tech) and IIT-Roorkee (B.E.), took over as Managing Director of the Company on 18th August, 2014 and soon commenced works on 27th September, 2014. He worked earlier as Director (Projects & Planning) at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and is credited with successfully completing and commissioning various important corridors in Delhi Metro under able guidance of Dr. E.Sreedharan. He held the prestige of the nation high during the XIXth Commonwealth Games, 2010 when he commissioned Central Secretariat -Badarpur Metro project on 3rd October, 2010 – just on the day of start of the Commonwealth Games - when approximately 70,000 people travelled by Delhi Metro to reach the main venue of the global sporting extravaganza - the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Under his guidance and leadership, UPMRC is executing Metro Projects in three different cities in the state i.e. Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra.

He has executed various projects in a record time. In this line, adoption of new initiatives and innovations, speed of deliverance within a stringent deadline and the sanctioned budget, have been ensured to deliver Lucknow Metro project and Kanpur Metro project within a stipulated timeline.

With his firm determination and commitment, UPMRC has recently achieved the privilege of completing the Priority Section of Kanpur Metro Rail Project in a record time of just 2 Years and 1.5 Month. Before it trial run was commenced in less than two years, which is a record in itself. Today Kanpur Metro is bringing the change in life of people of Kanpur through its world class services.

Lucknow Metro Project has already achieved the distinction in metro construction by completing & implementing the project in just 4.5 years that was 36 days ahead of the given deadline. Under able leadership of Sh Kumar Keshav UPMRC has won many awards and accolades. CCS Airport Metro station has its name in Limca Book of Records for being fastest constructed underground staion in just 19 years and 10 days time frame.

His journey of excellence includes successful tenures with Indian Railway as IRSE Officer, with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation as Director (Projects & Planning) & as Project Director in Heavy Haul Project, Australia.

UPMRC played the role of a ‘Coordinator’ in preparing the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to bring Metro in other important cities of UP namely Kanpur, Varanasi, Meerut, Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur and Jhansi, and thereby brought in the much-needed Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) revolution in the State. Uttar Pradesh Metro achieved this feat only because of firm determination and commitment of the dynamic leader Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, UPMRC.
